A finer file than the second cut file. Single-cut files leave a better finish and can therefore be used to refine the scratches left by the semi-soft file on the edge of an axe before passing the whetstone. It is also suitable for Rinaldi axes, which seem to be a little harder than most axes of other manufacturers. This file cuts on all 4 sides and one of the short sides is rounded.

 A file cuts only as it moves forward and should not be used in a back-and-forth motion, but rather by pushing forward and then lifting it from the tool each time.

To protect your hand and work efficiently, the file is meant to be used with a handle, which is sold separately.
