Beginners who have not yet mastered peening will often achieve better results with the Bergamasca than with a fine-grained stone such as the Rozsutec.Natural whetstones are carried on the belt in a water-filled whetstone holder for frequent maintenance of the edge during mowing. Adding a small dash of vinegar, as was done in the past in certain regions, increases the bite of most natural whetstones and helps keep them clean and functional.
